As part of our Harmony Day celebrations we were lucky enough to watch a video of a friend of Daisy's reading a story in Korean. The story was all about how it's okay to be different. Daisy was able to tell us what it meant in English. It was really interesting to see where she lived in Korea and how different it is to where we live. Thanks Mrs West for organising it.
1J have started learning to read music charts to play percussion music. You may have been able to hear us from your houses!
At the moment we are completing a unit of work in Science called Spot the Difference. It involves the students looking at changes in objects when they are heated or cooked. This week we looked at how spaghetti changes when it is cooked. Students came up with lots of interesting vocabulary including words like fragile, squishy, sticky, gooey, round, soft, elastic plus many more.
Each morning the students spend some time with me at the green table doing reading, handwriting and spelling tasks. It is a fantastic time for the students to practise their literacy skills.
This week in fine motor students had to make creations for 'sh' words such as a ship, shop and shrimp. The rain stayed away long enough on Thursday afternoon for Year One to clean up Captain Oldrey Park. The students were very eager and did a great job!
