We were so excited to see the rain last week, we asked students to make a piece of clothing or equipment that was waterproof. They came up with some great creations and enjoyed being tested with the water spray bottle.

We had a lovely time at our walkathon. The weather was lovely and we all enjoyed the walk and afternoon tea at the Surf Club.
Linking our recent Geography Unit about shelters and STEM asked students to design and then make a shelter for a toy. They had to include 3 special features which included beds, curtains, tables, windows, garages, etc. They did a great job and enjoyed sharing their creations with each other.
As part of Outdoor Classroom Day 1J students had to complete a Scavenger Hunt finding objects such as a Y-shaped stick, a heart-shaped rock, a feather and something to recycle. Students worked well in pairs and had fun finding 10 different objects in our school grounds. We finished the hunt with a story on our outdoor stage and a play on the playground. The monkey bars were a favourite! 1J did an awesome job presenting the Book Week Parade Assembly. Their costumes were great and they all spoke very well. Mrs Jones was very proud of them.
On Tuesday we travelled to Moruya on the bus to watch superhero Tapstar's show. Tapstar taught us all about not wasting water. It was a funny, interactive show that was very educational. The students had a fun time playing in the St Mary's playground afterwards.
Students are having a great time Friday afternoons participating in our STEM challenges. They have had to design and make shoes for their teddies, a rainy day game and the tallest freestanding tower they can from two sheets of newspaper! I have been impressed with their teamwork, perseverance and problem solving skills. |
Author1J is a class of 22 enthusiastic learners. They are a pleasure to teach and I will enjoy sharing their journey on this blog. Archives
